Endeavour
What's the point of endeavour?
Now I can no longer make you proud,
Why should I strive to survive and thrive?
Now you're no longer allowed.
Why should I rise in the morning?
What's the point in making a start,
The sun may be shining outside,
But never again in my heart.
People ask me how I'm doing,
'I'm fine,' comes my stock reply,
What am I meant to say?
'Since you left I've died inside'?
Well that's not gonna happen,
You've influenced me here,
Regardless, you've always had
A sympathetic ear.
Your courage was inspiring,
Your strength like that of steel,
You remained so dignified
Throughout your whole ordeal.
If I could just be half of,
The person that you were.
I'd still be 50 feet tall,
And twice the man, I swear.
So that's the point of endeavour,
As futile as it seems.
I know you'd never want me,
To give up on my dreams.
And that's the point of endeavour,
Now that the time has come.
I make an oath to you, my child,
To look after your mum.
